What must I do to be saved?

To be saved, one must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work for salvation.

The question of salvation often revolves around understanding our need for a Savior and the sufficiency of Christ's work. Romans 10:9 states that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. The doctrine of total depravity, or human inability to save oneself, emphasizes that it is by grace alone that one is saved, placing faith firmly on Christ and His sacrifice, not on personal merit or works.
