What role do angels play according to the Bible?

The role of angels, as described in Scripture, is primarily that of messengers or servants of God. Hebrews 1:7 states, 'Of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.' They do not seek worship for themselves but rather direct attention to God's glory and His unfolding plan for redemption.
