What role do trials and tribulations play in a Christian's life?

Answered in 1 source

Trials serve to prove and strengthen a believer's faith as they rely more on God's grace.

The Christian life is filled with trials that are purposeful. As mentioned in 1 Peter 1:6-7, these trials are necessary to test the genuineness of our faith. God uses our experiences to refine us, teaching us to depend on His strength and to reveal the true extent of both our depravity and His grace. The wilderness experiences believers endure are intended for their growth, holiness, and assurance of salvation. Through tribulation, we are conformed more into the image of Christ and learn to embrace our identity as His children.
