What role does Christ play in God's discipline of believers?

Answered in 1 source

Christ serves as our substitute and example in enduring God's chastening, guiding us back to the right path.

In the sovereignty of God's redemptive plan, Christ bore the chastisement that was due to us on the Cross, fulfilling God's judgment while simultaneously providing an example of endurance in suffering. Through Him, believers are assured that their trials serve to refine their faith and draw them closer to God. As Hebrews 12:2 instructs, we are to look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, especially during times of correction and discipline. Christ’s experience in suffering enables us to understand that our own trials are part of God's faithful guidance towards holiness, assuring us that we are on the right track.
