What role does Christ play in our sanctification?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ plays a central role in our sanctification; through His Spirit, He transforms us and conforms us to His image.

The Scriptures teach that Christ is intricately involved in our ongoing sanctification process. Through His atonement, we are not only justified but also sanctified, which means we are made holy and set apart for God’s purposes. According to Psalm 62:6, Christ is both our rock and salvation, reinforcing that our stability and growth in holiness rest in Him. This process is carried out through the Holy Spirit, who applies Christ's redemptive work to our hearts, leading us away from sin and toward likeness with Christ. The believer’s life is characterized by continual transformation, driven by faith in Christ alone, and reliance on His power for holiness.
