What role does Christ play in the preservation of the saints?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the central figure in our preservation, actively ensuring that all His elect are kept secure in faith.

Christ’s role in our preservation is multifaceted. Firstly, He is our Savior who initiated our faith and ensures its continuation. John 6:39 elucidates this role where Jesus states, 'And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given Me.' This verse reflects the promise that Christ will not lose any of His people but will bring them to full salvation. Secondly, His ongoing intercession on our behalf and the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts actively contribute to our perseverance (Romans 8:34, John 14:26). This demonstrates that our security is intertwined with Christ’s work.
