What role does evil play in God's plan for redemption?

Answered in 1 source

Evil showcases God's justice and mercy, ultimately leading to redemption through Christ.

The existence of evil allows God's attributes, such as justice and mercy, to be fully displayed. Without the reality of sin and evil, God's redemptive plan in Christ could not be appreciated. The fall of man necessitates the coming of the Savior; as Paul teaches in Romans 5:12-21, sin entered the world through one man, enabling God's grace to abound through another. Thus, God uses evil to manifest His redemptive love, ultimately working for the salvation of His elect.
