What role does faith play in knowing I am elect?

Answered in 1 source

Faith in Christ alone is the evidence of being among the elect (1 John 5:1).

According to 1 John 5:1, 'Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.' Faith in Jesus as the Christ is the immediate evidence that one is among God's elect. It's not about the strength of our faith but rather the object of our faith that assures us of our standing before God. When we believe in Christ's atoning sacrifice, it signifies that we are part of the body of Christ, His chosen people. This faith is a work of the Holy Spirit, confirming our status as children of God and ensuring our assurance of salvation. Therefore, genuine faith in the Son of God provides clear evidence of being elected by God.
