What role does faith play in the covenant of grace?

Answered in 2 sources

Faith is the means by which believers receive the blessings of the covenant of grace established by God.

Faith plays a central role in the covenant of grace as it is the instrument through which believers accept and experience God's promises. The bond of the covenant is secured by God's sovereign will, choosing a people for Himself, and faith is the vital connection that actualizes the grace that has been given. Romans 4:16 states that faith provides the assurance that the covenant will be fulfilled, and it is the basis for enjoying the blessings promised within it. Through faith, Christians recognize the importance of resting in God's covenant promises, thereby finding salvation not as an opportunity but as a guaranteed reality rooted in Christ's finished work. Without faith, the blessings of the covenant remain distant, but through faith, they are made our own.
