What role does grace play in transforming the heart?

Answered in 1 source

Grace transforms the heart by delivering us from the bondage of our evil imaginations and making us new creations in Christ.

Grace is fundamentally transformative, as it rescues the heart from its natural inclination towards evil thoughts and imaginations. When God grants grace, He performs a work of regeneration, creating a new heart that desires to please Him. This transformation is spoken of in 2 Corinthians 5:17, where believers are described as new creations. The work of grace does not suppress our original imaginations but rather reorients them towards God, aligning our desires with His will. As we rely on God's grace daily, we learn to capture every thought and imagination, bringing it into obedience to Christ, thereby fostering a godly perspective on life.
