What role does Jesus' death play in our salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

Jesus' death is the pivotal act that secures salvation for those who believe (Hebrews 9:22).

The death of Jesus Christ is central to the gospel and fundamental for salvation. Hebrews 9:22 states that 'without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.' Christ's death serves as the perfect sacrifice, fulfilling the requirements of the law and bearing the punishment for sin those He represents. This means that through His death, believers are justified—declared righteous before God. Furthermore, Christ’s obedience unto death assures believers that they do not have to rely on their own works for righteousness, but can trust solely in His completed work on the cross.
