What role does preaching play in salvation according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

Preaching is instrumental in God's plan for salvation as it communicates the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation.

According to Romans 10:14-17, preaching plays a central role in the salvation of sinners. The faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. This highlights that God uses the proclamation of His Word to call His elect to Himself. As preachers faithfully declare the truth of the gospel, the Holy Spirit works through this means to impart faith unto salvation. It is through the preaching of the cross that individuals are brought to an understanding of their sin, added to their need for redemption, ultimately leading them to Christ, who saves His people completely.
