What role does providence play in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Providence serves as God's sovereign guidance in the lives of individuals, leading them to grace and salvation.

The doctrine of providence portrays God’s constant control and guidance in the universe, as well as in the individual lives of His people. It is through God’s providential care that sinners are often led to recognize their desperate need for Christ, especially in times of trouble or adversity. In John 4, the nobleman’s desperate situation ultimately directed him to Jesus, illustrating how providence works to fulfill God’s purpose of salvation by drawing people to Himself. God's providence assures us that His plans for each individual lead to a personal encounter with grace (John 4:43-54).
