What role does revelation play in knowing God?

Answered in 1 source

Revelation is crucial because God must make Himself known to us; we cannot come to know Him through our efforts alone.

Understanding God and establishing a relationship with Him necessitates divine revelation, as we cannot attain this knowledge merely through human intellect or study. Matthew 11:27 states that no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. This reveals that our knowledge of God is contingent upon His grace in revealing Himself to us. Ephesians 1:9 further illustrates this point by discussing how God made known to us the mystery of His will. By relying on God’s revelation, we can truly know Him and grow in understanding His grace, character, and purposes, reinforcing the relational aspect of knowing Him.
