What role does the Holy Spirit have in the covenant of grace?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit's role is to regenerate believers, granting them new life and the ability to believe in Christ.

Within the framework of the everlasting covenant, the Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in applying the benefits of Christ's work to His people. The Spirit regenerates, or gives new birth, to those chosen for salvation, which is essential for their response to the gospel. This regeneration is a transformative work that changes the hearts of believers, enabling them to repent and have faith in Christ. This divine work is imperative in fulfilling the promise of the covenant to change hearts of stone into hearts of flesh, as seen in Ezekiel 36:26-27. Through the Spirit, Christians are not only brought to faith but are also equipped to live out God’s will in their lives.
