What role does the Holy Spirit play in intercession?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered, as stated in Romans 8:26.

The Holy Spirit plays an essential role in the intercessory process, particularly as indicated in Romans 8:26-27. These verses describe how the Spirit assists us in our weaknesses when we do not know how to pray as we ought. It is the Spirit who makes intercession for us with groanings that are deep and beyond articulation. This illustrates the intimate relationship the Spirit has with both the believer and God the Father, as He knows the mind of God and prays in accordance with His will. The intercessory work of the Holy Spirit provides believers with assurance that even in our inadequacy, God is fully aware of our needs and desires. Thus, the Holy Spirit’s intercession complements Christ’s advocacy in an incredible way, bringing together the work of the Trinity on behalf of believers.
