What role does the law play in the need for a mediator?

Answered in 1 source

The law exposes our sin and need for Christ as our mediator to attain righteousness.

According to Galatians 3:24, the law serves as a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ by revealing our inability to fulfill its requirements. It shows us that we are all under sin and need a mediator who can provide what the law demands but that we cannot achieve ourselves. This realization drives us to seek reconciliation through Christ, who has satisfied the demands of the law on behalf of His people, thus preparing the way for our salvation.
