What role does the preaching of the gospel play in relation to election?

Answered in 1 source

The preaching of the gospel is the means through which God calls His elect and assures them of their salvation.

While election underscores God's sovereign choice, it does not render the preaching of the gospel unnecessary. In fact, as Paul illustrates in 1 Thessalonians 1:5, the gospel comes not only in words but also in power and the Holy Spirit. It is through the proclamation of the gospel that God's elect are called effectively to faith. The inward call of the gospel assures the believer of their election, marking their transformation and commitment to Christ. Thus, the preaching of the gospel is a vital instrument that God uses to fulfill His purpose of election, drawing His people from darkness to light, and from death to life.
