What roles do the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit play in prayer?

Answered in 1 source

The Father listens, the Son intercedes, and the Holy Spirit helps us pray according to God's will.

In prayer, each person of the Trinity plays a distinct yet unified role. The Father is the one who hears our prayers, welcoming us into His presence. The Son, Jesus Christ, serves as our Advocate, interceding for us based on His finished work on the cross (1 John 2:1). The Holy Spirit assists us in prayer, helping us in our weaknesses by interceding with groanings that cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26-27). Together, they emphasize the relational aspect of prayer, highlighting that we approach the Father only through the Son and with the Spirit’s empowerment, affirming the communal nature of our communication with God.
