What should Christians do if authorities act contrary to God's Word?

Answered in 1 source

Christians must resist commands that contradict Scripture while obeying lawful authorities.

While believers are called to submit to governing authorities, there are exceptions when those authorities demand actions contrary to God’s Word. For example, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego resisted an edict to worship an idol, as did Daniel when commanded not to pray. In such cases, resistance is necessary to remain faithful to God's commands, and believers must be prepared to face the consequences of such resistance.
