What should Christians do when they see sin in others?

Answered in 1 source

Christians should exercise fervent love that covers a multitude of sins while addressing issues privately when necessary.

When Christians observe sin in one another, Peter instructs us in 1 Peter 4:8 to maintain fervent love, which serves to cover a multitude of sins. This does not mean that we ignore sin or overlook its seriousness; rather, it speaks to a disposition of grace and compassion toward one another amidst faults and shortcomings. Addressing sin should be approached with a spirit of gentleness and love, as demonstrated in Matthew 18:15, where believers are encouraged to confront a brother privately about their sin. The goal is restoration and reconciliation, not broadcasting faults or fostering division. In cultivating love that covers, Christians foster unity and spiritual growth within the congregation.
