What should we ask for in our prayers?

Answered in 1 source

In our prayers, we should ask for mercy, guidance, and to align our hearts with God's will.

Prayer primarily involves asking God for what we cannot accomplish on our own, such as mercy and grace. For instance, the publican's prayer in Luke 18:13, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner,' emphasizes the need for divine intervention in our sinful state. Additionally, we should seek to bring our requests before God in alignment with His promises as shared through scripture. Believers are called to come to God as they are—empty-handed, seeking Christ's righteousness, while trusting that He will provide all that is necessary for spiritual life and growth.
