What should we focus on when we pray?

Answered in 1 source

When we pray, we should focus on God's promises and His character, not our own words or eloquence.

Prayer should primarily focus on God's promises and the assurances He has given to us rather than on our own ability to articulate our needs. Jacob's prayer in Genesis 32 is a model for this, as he recalls God’s previous promises to him while asking for deliverance. This approach reinforces our faith in God’s character, reminding us that we can trust Him to act in accordance with His word. Instead of worrying about the perfect wording, our prayers can center on the sincerity of our hearts and the acknowledgment of God’s faithfulness.
