Where does true righteousness come from?

Answered in 1 source

True righteousness is the righteousness of God, which is only found in Jesus Christ.

The source of true righteousness is explicitly stated in Scripture as the righteousness of God, which is bestowed upon believers through Jesus Christ. As highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5:21, Christ was made sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Human efforts to achieve righteousness are in vain, as our own works are inherently flawed and cannot satisfy God's demands. This divine righteousness is graciously credited to believers by faith, establishing them in right standing before God.
