Why are God’s people considered precious?

Answered in 1 source

God’s people are precious because they are chosen by Him and loved as He loves His Son.

The preciousness of God's people is rooted in their identity as those whom God has called and redeemed. In John 17:23, Jesus states that the Father loves His people as He loves His Son, illustrating the depth of God's affection and commitment. This love is not based on any merit of the individual but is a testament to God's sovereign grace and mercy toward the undeserving. The imagery in Revelation 7:9-10 of a great multitude from every nation worshipping God highlights that God's people are a diverse but united body, valued and cherished in His sight. Furthermore, in 1 Peter 2:9, these believers are described as a chosen generation, emphasizing their chosen status as part of God's redemptive plan. God's people hold significance as they are seen as instruments through which His glory is displayed among all creation.
