Why are good works considered a result of being in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Good works are a result of being in Christ because only through His transformative power can they be genuinely performed.

The Apostle Paul states that we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. This signifies that apart from Christ, no genuine good works can arise. If individuals are not regenerated by the Holy Spirit, they cannot perform acts that truly commend themselves to God. Hence, good works are the evidence of a transformed heart and life, indicating that the believer is not merely doing good for recognition but out of a love response to God’s grace. Essentially, good works manifest themselves spontaneously from those empowered by the Holy Spirit.
