Why are the works of believers said to follow them after death?

Answered in 1 source

Believers' works follow them as evidence of God's grace and empowerment in their lives.

The phrase 'their works do follow them' indicates that while good works do not earn salvation, they are a natural outflow of a transformed life in Christ. As believers are saved by grace, their actions reflect this grace and bear witness to God's glory. In glory, it will not be the believers who are praised for their works, but rather God, who empowered them to accomplish those good works. Their works serve as testimonies of God's grace at work in their lives rather than as grounds for their acceptance before Him.
