Why can Christians have assurance of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christians can have assurance of salvation because Jesus’ work is complete and is based on faith, not works.

Assurance of salvation comes from the certainty that Christ fulfilled all the requirements for our redemption. As John 3:36 states, 'He who believes in the Son has everlasting life.' Our assurance is not based on our fluctuating efforts or feelings, but on the steadfast promise of God through Christ’s finished work. Since Jesus paid the penalty for sin and fully satisfied divine justice, believers can confidently rest in their relationship with God, knowing that nothing can separate them from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Assurance is thus rooted in faith alone, as we trust in Jesus who cannot fail.
