Why can't good works guarantee entry into the kingdom of heaven?

Answered in 1 source

Good works cannot guarantee entry because salvation is by grace through faith and not by works.

Jesus clearly illustrates that the profession of good works, such as preaching and performing miracles, is not the basis for entrance into the kingdom of heaven. As stated in Matthew 7:22-23, many will claim their works as proof, yet Christ will reject them if they are not genuinely known by Him. The fundamental truth of Reformed theology holds that salvation is by grace through faith, emphasizing that it is not our own merit or efforts that secure a place in the kingdom, but God's sovereign grace given to us.
