Why did Jesus refuse to heal the blind man in a conventional way?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus refused conventional methods to demonstrate His authority and ability to act according to His divine purpose rather than human expectation.

In Mark 8:22-25, when the blind man is brought to Jesus, the crowd expects Him to simply touch the man for healing. However, Jesus deliberately leads him away and uses a unique method involving spittle to heal him. This act illustrates Jesus' sovereign authority and intention not to conform to the patterns or molds set by human expectation. By doing so, He challenges the crowd's understanding of how God's power works, emphasizing that divine intervention occurs in ways that may be offensive or unexpected. The healing reflects God's grace and activity in individuals’ lives, further encouraging reliance on His sovereign will instead of humanly devised methods.
