Why did Job not understand his suffering?

Answered in 1 source

Job did not understand his suffering because he was not privy to the heavenly dialogue between God and Satan.

Job's suffering was profound and largely unfathomable to him. Despite being a righteous man, he was unaware of the background conflict between God and Satan that led to his trials. God allowed Satan to test Job, proving the depth of Job's faith. This highlights the limitations of human understanding in the face of divine wisdom. As Job lamented his suffering, he remained faithful, ultimately trusting that God was sovereign and good, even in his pain.
