Why did some people not seek Christ even when they knew about Him?

Answered in 1 source

Many did not seek Christ because they did not believe they needed Him, relying instead on their own knowledge and heritage.

The failure of the religious leaders and Herod to seek Christ demonstrates a common human condition: reliance on oneself rather than on God. They were aware of the prophecies and the indications of Christ’s birth but were troubled and did not deem it necessary to seek Him. Their trust was in their religious practices and heritage rather than recognizing their spiritual need. This underscores the importance of drawing near to Christ, acknowledging our desperate need for His grace rather than presuming on our own righteousness or understanding.
