Why do Christians experience adversity?

Answered in 1 source

Adversity leads Christians to rely on God's provision and grace in their lives (Isaiah 30:20).

In Isaiah 30:20, it speaks of God giving His people 'the bread of adversity and the water of affliction'. This means that challenges serve a divine purpose in our lives, refining us and leading us back to reliance upon Christ. Adversity can reveal our weaknesses and prompt us to cry out for God's mercy and help. It is in acknowledging our neediness before God that we experience His sustaining grace, which strengthens our faith and deepens our understanding of His sovereignty over our trials. The trials we face are not without purpose but rather are a means through which God draws us closer to Himself.
