Why do Christians long for the return of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Christians long for Christ's return to be free from sin and to see Him face-to-face.

Believers eagerly await the return of Christ because that day promises the fulfillment of God's redemptive work, bringing an end to sin and death. As noted in 1 John 3:2, 'when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.' This expectation is built on the assurance that Christ's return will result in not only our ultimate transformation but also a joyful reunion with our Savior. The longing for His return reflects the deep desire for complete communion with God, as well as the hope that all believers will be united in glorified bodies, free from the curse of sin.
