Why do Christians need to confess their sins?

The need for confession among Christians stems from our ongoing struggle with sin even after coming to faith. As stated in 1 John 1:8-9, if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, but if we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Confession is vital because it not only acknowledges our imperfections but also re-establishes our fellowship with God.
