Why do Christians need to rest in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Resting in Christ is vital because it signifies ceasing from our own works (Hebrews 4:9-11).

In Hebrews 4:9-11, believers are called to enter into rest, which represents a cessation of striving for righteousness through personal efforts. True rest is found in trusting the completed work of Christ, allowing Him to be our source of life and hope. This rest not only brings peace but also signifies reliance on God's grace rather than our works. The labor we undertake as believers is to cease from our own labors and fully trust in God's promises and provision through Christ.
