Why do Christians pray for others?

Answered in 1 source

Christians pray for others to support one another and fulfill the command to love and serve their brethren in the Spirit.

In Ephesians 6:18, Paul encourages believers to make 'supplication for all saints.' This practice is essential in the life of a Christian community as it fosters unity and demonstrates love. By praying for others, we acknowledge our interdependence and the calling to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2). Furthermore, praying for fellow believers ensures that we are lifting them up before God, trusting Him to meet their needs as He promises to do. This supplication not only blesses those for whom we pray but also strengthens our own faith and keeps us engaged in the spiritual lives of our brothers and sisters.
