Why do Christians still struggle with sin after salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christians continue to struggle with sin due to the presence of the old sinful nature, even after being transformed by the Spirit.

The ongoing struggle with sin in a believer's life is explained by the reality of the two natures. While believers are regenerated and given a new heart by the Holy Spirit, they still reside in a fallen flesh that is bound to sin. Paul expresses this struggle in Romans 7, where he notes the conflict between the desire to do good and the reality of sin dwelling within. As a result, Christians experience a constant battle, requiring reliance on grace for sanctification and assurance of their ultimate victory through Christ. This struggle should lead us to acknowledge our dependence on God for strength and righteousness.
