Why do Christians suffer according to John's Gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Christians may suffer because the world will reject them as it rejected Christ (John 16:2).

In John 16:2, Jesus warns His disciples that they will face persecution, stating that they will be put out of synagogues and even killed. This expectation of suffering reflects the reality that Christians are often at odds with a world that does not recognize or accept the truth of God and His Son. Paul's teachings affirm this, indicating that entrance into the kingdom of God often requires enduring tribulations (Acts 14:22). Understanding that suffering can be a part of the Christian experience helps believers respond in faith and resilience, remembering that their Savior also faced profound rejection and suffering.
