Why do Christians suffer according to the Bible?

Answered in 2 sources

Christians suffer as a result of living in a fallen world and in identification with Christ, who also suffered for our sins.

The Bible teaches that suffering is a reality for Christians, reflecting the trials faced due to the fallen nature of the world and the opposition to the gospel. Paul's own experiences serve as a model, as he rejoiced in his sufferings for the sake of the church (Colossians 1:24). Such sufferings are not in vain, as they align believers with the sufferings of Christ, who endured persecution and affliction for the redemption of His people. This suffering serves a purpose; it shapes character, builds faith, and culminates in the glorification of believers in Christ. The call to endure trials is accompanied by the promise of God's sustaining grace, assuring believers that they are never abandoned during their hardships.
