Why do Christians suffer or experience tragedy?

Answered in 1 source

Christians may suffer or face tragedy as part of God's sovereign plan, which serves a greater purpose beyond our understanding.

The existence of suffering and tragedy is a profound mystery, yet scripture teaches that even in our suffering, God's hand is at work. Trials can serve to display God's sovereignty and bring about growth in faith among His elect. In 1 Peter 1:6-7, we are reminded that trials test our faith, resulting in praise and honor when revealed at Christ's return. God's purpose for allowing suffering often transcends our immediate understanding, but it is always under His control for the sake of our spiritual growth and the glory of His name. Therefore, we can trust that every circumstance is orchestrated by Him for our ultimate good and His praise.
