Why do people depart from the gospel?

Answered in 1 source

People depart from the gospel due to trials, a lack of true love for Christ, and the allure of worldly things.

In the sermon, several reasons were given for why individuals depart from the gospel. Trials and suffering can cause false professors to wither when they realize they do not possess true faith. Additionally, prosperity can tempt people away from the faith as they seek material gain over spiritual truth. Ultimately, a true love for Christ is essential; without it, individuals may grow weary of pretense and leave the church in pursuit of their own glory or worldly interests.
