Why do people oppose the Gospel of Sovereign Grace?

Answered in 1 source

The Gospel of Sovereign Grace is opposed because it humbles human pride and challenges self-righteousness.

Opposition to the Gospel of Sovereign Grace arises primarily because it confronts the pride and self-righteousness inherent in humanity. As articulated in the sermon, the message that salvation is entirely dependent on God's grace and not on human morality or effort is deeply offensive to many. It levels the playing field, showing that even the most moral person must rely on God’s mercy, similar to the worst sinner. This radical inclusivity is offensive as it dissolves the distinctions people presume give them value before God. Hence, religious and moral individuals often react with hostility towards such a gospel.
