Why do people refuse to come to Jesus?

The refusal to come to Jesus can be attributed to a lack of awareness of one's spiritual need. In John 5:40, Jesus declares, 'You will not come to Me.' This refusal stems from the fact that many are blinded by the god of this world, as stated in 2 Corinthians 4:4, rendering them incapable of seeing their need for Christ.
