Why do some Jews not believe Jesus is the Messiah?

Answered in 1 source

Some Jews do not believe Jesus is the Messiah due to a hardening of their hearts, as noted in Scripture.

Despite the clear indications in Scripture that point to Jesus as the Messiah, many Jews stumble over Him because their hearts were hardened (Romans 11:7-10). Their misconception of the Messiah as a political deliverer rather than a spiritual savior led to disbelief. Historical expectations were formed around the hope of liberation from Roman oppression instead of recognizing the necessity of redemption from sin. This stubbornness was predicted in Scripture, thus highlighting the sovereign grace of God in revealing the truth to those whom He has chosen. As such, understanding this dynamic encourages Christians to approach evangelism with fervent prayer and reliance on God's grace to open hearts.
