Why do some people appear religious but lack the Spirit of Christ?

Religiosity without the Spirit is quite common. Many may engage in church practices, uphold doctrinal correctness, or even preach the gospel without possessing a genuine relationship with God through the Spirit of Christ. Romans 8:9 emphasizes that true identity in Christ is not based on external performance but on being indwelt by His Spirit. This highlights the essential difference between mere outward religiosity and true spiritual life. Without the Spirit, one is completely alienated from God, regardless of their religious activities or affiliations.
