Why do some people not respond to the gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Some people do not respond to the gospel due to hardness of heart, despite having access to its truths and privileges.

The people of Capernaum had unparalleled access to Jesus’ ministry and miracles, yet many remained unconverted. This paradigm is commonplace; spiritual privileges can lead to spiritual complacency. As the sermon notes, regular exposure to the gospel without heart transformation can harden individuals rather than awaken them. This serves as a warning for believers to remain vigilant and responsive to the truth of God’s Word, ensuring that they do not become indifferent or let the hardness of their hearts prevent them from receiving grace. As seen in Matthew 11:23, greater privileges result in greater accountability before God.
