Why do some people reject the message of the Gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Many reject the Gospel due to humanity's innate hostility towards God and the implications of Jesus' authority.

The rejection of the Gospel can often be attributed to humanity's natural enmity against God and His authority. In Acts 4, we see that the religious leaders were grieved by the apostles' teachings despite the miracle of healing. This hostility arises from a refusal to submit to God's will and the exclusion of self-righteousness offered by the Gospel. When faced with the truth of divine authority and the call to repentance, many prefer to cling to their own beliefs and lifestyle choices, leading them to oppose the very message that holds the potential for their redemption.
