Why do some people struggle with the concept of election?

Answered in 1 source

Some struggle with election because they perceive it as unfair or incompatible with human free will.

The concept of election can be challenging for many due to the implications it has on the understanding of God's sovereignty versus human free will. Many see the doctrine as limiting God’s love or as arbitrary, leading to questions of fairness. However, Scripture affirms that God's ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His choice is not based on human reasoning or merits. Romans 9:14 challenges the idea of God's unfairness: 'Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid!' The struggle often arises from a misunderstanding of grace and the nature of God’s sovereign purpose, which is ultimately for His glory and the good of those He has chosen.
