Why do we believe in divine sovereignty and human responsibility?

Answered in 1 source

Both divine sovereignty and human responsibility are scriptural truths that coexist in the mystery of God's plan.

In the pursuit of understanding salvation, both divine sovereignty and human responsibility emerge as central biblical doctrines. Sovereignty asserts God's ultimate control and authority over all things (Ephesians 1:11), while human responsibility includes the call to respond to the gospel (Romans 10:13). While the coexistence of the two can be challenging to comprehend, they highlight God's perfect governance in salvation. As articulated in John 17, Jesus acknowledges the divine giving of His people, while simultaneously calling them to trust and respond to Him in faith, thus affirming both truths within the context of God's eternal purpose.
